The aims of the Muintearas project can be described in many different ways, but all of them are focused onpeople: - to achieve equal opportunities in terms of education and employment for people in the Gaeltacht; to provide personal development opportunities for men and women; to improve the quality of life for those who experience disadvantage; to facilitate full participation of parents in the education of their children; to support the use of the Irish language in all aspects of community life in the Gaeltacht, on the basis of justice and basic rights; to raise awareness in state agencies etc. for the special needs of the Gaeltacht; and to generally function as a facilitator for the Gaeltacht community, to help them to reach their full potential in economic, social, cultural and linguistic terms. These are ambitious aims, but Muintearas goes about them with a clear working programme, dedicated staff and good community relations.
