Glenveagh National Park

While Errigal and surrounding areas are within the parks boundaries, the main entrance to this world famous park lies a short 10 minute drive (14km) from the Errigal Car Park. With a total area of over 16,500 hectares (40,873 acres), Glenveagh is the largest National Park in the country & home to a rich, diverse & wholly unspoiled landscape. This landscape is comprised of Natural Woodlands, Mountains, Rivers, Lakes & Glens. The park is also home to a herd of Red Deer as well as the Golden Eagle re-introduction project whose aim it is to reintroduce a breeding population of golden eagles in north-west Ireland.

Built between 1870 - 1873, the castle is a Scottish style castle & is surrounded by one of the finest gardens in Ireland, which contrast greatly with the rugged surroundings. Access to the Castle is by guided tour only. The Visitor Centre houses exhibitions and an audio-visual show.
