Trá Dhearg (Red Beach)

While small in size (less than 200 meters from one end to the other), the Trá Dhearg makes up for it in natural beauty and is one of the most popular beaches in Gweedore. It's thought that it's name comes from the slightly coarser reddish granite based sand that can be seen at low-tides.

This effect is heightened at sunset when the red granite rocks at either end of the beach seem to reflect their color and bathe the entire beach in a warm red hue.

This beach offers easy access and parking.

It is also excellent for swimming with a pier at the northern end for diving/fishing etc.
